Hens & Stags
Whether it’s a relaxed and girly weekend, a boys’ blast abroad or a good old-fashioned night out on the town, you’ll need some personalised paraphernalia! Print It, Stitch It will be able to bring your party to life with t-shirts, fleeces, socks … in fact, whatever your party needs. For those party extras – balloons and all kinds of fun ‘stuff’ – pop into The Mercat where you’ll find great ideas at The Present Shop and the Card Factory. Looking for some activities? The town has plenty: from baking workshops at The Baker’s Apprentice to fun sessions at the Kirkcaldy Leisure Centre. Into golf? Kirkcaldy Golf Club welcomes groups with great packages available. Then there’s events at the Adam Smith Theatre, Treasure Trails from Beveridge Park and Old Dysart and you could try your luck at ice skating. If budget is key, don’t discount the charity shops. There’s no reason why you can’t take your charity shop purchase to a tailors and alter little bits and pieces to achieve the exact look you desire.
Groom & Guest Attire
Looking for traditional kilts? Family-owned Kirk Wynd Highland House prides itself on customer service – and they have a fabulous selection of kilts and accessories in store. Wilkies offers kilts to hire and purchase. They also have a lovely selection of Mother of the Bride outfits (with hats and accessories to match) and many great shoe brands. There are plenty of outlets catering for occasion wear – from Marks and Spencer and Debenhams to Peacocks and Burton on the high street has a selection of really smart suits and shirts. For younger fashions, New Look, Dorothy Perkins and River Island never disappoint. Charles Clinkard have occasion shoes in store – for men and women – as well as lots of practical yet pretty heels … and some fabulous bags to match. When it comes to the little details that make all the difference, visit Claire’s Accessories in The Mercat to see their range of fascinators and head dress pieces, Capability Scotland on the High Streets for hats and their wedding collection. And for the tiny tots, Only Kiddin’ on the High Street sells children’s clothing from birth – 7 years, and lots of fabulous outfits for a special occasion.
The Cake & The Flowers
Looking for cakes for the big day? Not just ‘the cake’ – but all baking requirements – including wee cup cakes for guests to take away on the day? The town boasts some brilliant bakers and wedding cake creators who will create just what you desire: as a selection – The Cake Corner, The Baker’s Apprentice, Bayne’s Family Bakers and Cupcake Coffee Box – all on the High Street. For flowers, we can recommend the award-winning Canterbury Bells and Raith Flowers, both on the High Street. Both florists will be able to advise on all your floral requirements for the day: from hand held bouquets to flowers for the service, from table decorations to ‘wow’ displays at the reception.
Rings & Perfect Gifts?
Kirkcaldy has some fantastic jewellers – ideal for couples seeking engagement and wedding rings as well as for those all-important gifts for brides and grooms to buy your ‘maids and ushers a token of your appreciation for all their help in the run up to the big day. You will also find an array of jewellery and unique gifts across town – from small, independent specialists such as Jewellery Workshop on Kirk Wynd to ‘High Street’ favourites including H Samuel, Pandora and Warren James. Of course there won’t be any celebrations unless you get those invites out! Set aside some time and head to Ryman’s: they have wedding planners, wedding guest books, invitations and much more. Finishing Touches by Adele is our local venue stylists: they can design and print your invitations, menus, table cards … the lot! In addition, they hire out everything from light-up backdrops, to chair covers and aisle runners and showstopper centre-pieces. We absolutely love the personalised menus/place cards/running order all in one! The formal rule book on who sits where, the type of food you and even traditional table names has gone out the window. Many couples now opt for a much more casual wedding breakfast set up – from trestle tables with a cold buffets to ‘dessert tables’.

You are spoilt for choice when it comes to hair, make up and beauty treatments ahead of your wedding.
