Almost 200 years ago, a new style of shopping opened in Scotland: The Argyll Arcade – a cut through old tenements – provided a link between Glasgow’s Argyle Street and Buchanan Street. It was Scotland’s first shopping ‘mall’. That was in 1827. In Kirkcaldy, we can claim Scotland’s second oldest arcade – the Olympia. The arcade – originally a linen works when built in 1858 – is now enjoying a period of regeneration. We went ‘undercover’ to explore some of the shops and outlets leading the Arcade’s rejuvenation …
